Barbar Spector Throws Her Hat Into the Ring

PRESS RELEASE
May 8, 2012
Vice-Mayor Barbara Spector announced today that she will
be seeking re-election to the Los Gatos Town Council.

Barbara has served Los Gatos as Mayor, Vice-Mayor, Councilmember and Planning Commissioner. In those roles she helped establish the Town’s ordinances, standards and General Plan, all of which created the vision that has preserved our beautiful town.

“However,” Barbara explained, “in the past several years that vision has been challenged. Many of our residents are concerned about development, schools and traffic. That concern extends to the North 40, a largely agricultural parcel of land located adjacent to Lark Avenue.

“We must get this project right,” Barbara stated. “I chair the North 40 Advisory Committee, which is currently preparing a plan to direct what will be built on that land.”

Barbara understands that change will occur. “However, the ordinances of our Town, applied with fairness and consistency, will guide development while preserving the quality of life for future generations.”

Barbara has been on the Los Gatos Town Council since 2004 and served as Mayor in 2008. During her tenure, she has represented the town on various regional bodies including the Association of Bay Area Government and the Santa Clara County Cities Association.

Barbara has also served on Los Gatos’ General Plan, Finance and Conceptual Development Committees, on the ad hoc Council Committee that created a Vision Statement for the North 40, and on the Policy Committee which recommended Enforcement Provisions that govern the Council’s Code of Conduct.

I am sooooo pleased that Barbara is throwing her hat into the ring. With Barbara and Marcia Jensen as council-people, we have a shot at bringing the overdevelopment of Los Gatos back in line with current zoning and land use laws. That will help control the level of traffic and reduce the total number of new students entering into the school system.

Steve I like you personally – just don’t like your penchant towards overdeveloping the town.

    Go Barbara !
